Dance is far more than movement it is a profound field of study. One visionary who proved this to the entire world is Professor Mudiyanse Dissanayake. Born into a traditional dance family in the beautiful Hanthana area of ​​Kandy, he loved dancing from a young age. He learned the heartbeat of our drumming and dancing from his father, Mudiyanse Gurunanse and used that knowledge to change the world of dance forever.

He started as a university student and worked so hard that he eventually became a Professor and Dean. He had a magic touch when it came to bringing old village rituals, like the famous Kohomba Kankariya, onto the modern stage. Because of his creative ideas, Sri Lankan traditional dance is now respected and loved by people all over the international stage.

Even today, his books remain an invaluable treasure to students studying dance. His hard work and research helped preserve and ensured that "Hela" dance would not just survive, but thrive. Professor Mudiyanse Dissanayake left a mark on our culture that will never fade. He is a superhero in the Sri Lankan dance world. 🙏💃🤍

    My Reflection on Social Service 💫 I am involved in social work because helping humanity gives me a sense of happiness and freedom. It is truly rewarding to see how our actions can positively impact someone else's life. I have learned a lot through the social service programs I recently joined. It is a great privilege to be able to provide small amount of comfort to people living through life's difficulties.        Every act of kindness, no matter how small, creates a ripple effect that can change a person's entire perspective on the world. This world would be a much more beautiful place if we didn't think only about our own affairs, but offered a little help to someone else.
